Abstract
The authors consider the application of power system stabilisers via the turbine governors of generating units in a multimachine power system. This arrangement is called a governor power system stabiliser (GPSS). The design is based on the principle of phase compensation and is easier than with conventional stabilisers. The authors present results of analysis and simulation of a three-machine system, which show that GPSS may be used to suppress low-frequency oscillations and improve stability
