Abstract
State estimation in power systems is aimed at processing raw measurement data in real time from different locations of power systems and producing a set of accurate full state variables of the power network. The authors analyse the relations between the total variance of state estimation errors and the locations of measurement points, and the parameters of the network. It is found that the total variance of state estimation errors differ significantly when the same given number of measurements are placed at different locations of the network, and by reducing the variance of estimation errors could effectively quicken the convergence of computation and enhance the numerical stability of algorithm
