Abstract
The authors describe the first power system simulator (PSS) in China, which was put into operation in February of 1990 and developed by Department of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University cooperating with Electric Power Dispatching and Communication Bureau of Northeast China for 3 years. NEPSS is suitable for the current automation level of the power system in China. The hardware configuration includes a VAX-3500 computer for the power system model, a VAX-785 computer for the control center model and four graphic terminals for man-machine interfaces. The training software package includes three main parts: the power system model (PSM), the control center model (CCM) and the simulation support function (SSF)
