Optical generation of millimeter-waves by photo-mixing one TE and one TM mode of a dual-polarization external cavity diode laser operating in the 1.55 μm wavelength domain is reported. Experimental results on data transmission at millimeter-waves by external modulation of one of the optical modes are presented
