Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of Qing Nao Tong Luo Recipe (QNTL recipe) on learning and memory impairment in senile dementia rats and its effect on hippocampal synaptic plasticity. The Alzheimer´s disease model was induced by D-galactose (D-gal) ip injection and Ibotenic acid microinjection into the basal forebrain area. Morris water maze task was used to evaluate the learning and memory function. Transmission electron microscope was used to observe the brain sections. Stereological analysis was used to analyze the synaptic density. The QNTL recipe has significant improvement on learning and memory dysfunction and hippocampal synaptic structural reconstruction of AD rats.
