  • Abstract
    Although the results shown are based on a very simplistic model, they are very encouraging. Using an active panel under switched waveform control, the presence of failed elements can be compensated for by simply changing the switching waveform duty cycle. How, in practice, one would decide on what value to choose to dynamically dasiarepairpsila an active panel has yet to be considered. Even if such measures are not adopted, however, the results do show that useful values of panel reflectivity can still be maintained with up to about 10% of failed elements. Since each active element has four associated diodes, even if one fails, the element can still function effectively with respect to at least one plane of incident polarisation. Irrespective of an elementpsilas design and its polarisation properties, increased tolerance to diode failure can be achieved through the use of power supply dasiatie-linepsila tracks between adjacent elements.
