Abstract
Sony´s camera design team identified certain targets which must be met in any future DSP camera. However, the semiconductor technology available does not allow them to achieve all of the targets. They have analysed in the laboratory a variety of DSP techniques and refined different camera configurations. This has culminated in the construction of a concept evaluation unit which demonstrates the principles which can be employed when LSI techniques have advanced sufficiently. The custom LSI devices used to provide the video processing are described
