Broadband communication in private networks

A system concept is presented which allows for a smooth evolution from ISPBX to broadband ISPBX. Only those applications are handled via ATM that appear to be reasonable, so the economical progress of ISDN is possible independently of the introduction of ATM. The concept for a distributed system presented here is realized in the Esprit project 2146 `DAMS´. The traffic performance of ATM systems has been researched within the Berkom project `ATD Study´, and the integration strategy in the subscriber area is being developed in the Race project R1011 `Business CPN´
