Abstract
Much of the discussion on computer graphics tends to concentrate on the techniques, algorithms and hardware processors required to efficiently draw or manipulate the graphic data, or on the complex processing required to synthesize and render complex 3-D imagery. All of these techniques result in an image represented as some form of bit-map in memory. The steps involved in realizing this bit-map as a flicker-free display on a high resolution monitor is often taken for granted. The system aspects of this display hardware are briefly covered
