Abstract :
Simply, internet telephony is telephone network using internet as its communication media. The specific character of a telephone is its ability to make connection to the destination telephone number. So that the right term is actually internet telephony than VoIP which is more aimed to voice communication via internet, so there is no emphasizing on the ability of call directed to the destination phone number. From the several existing internet telephony technologies, this research is focused on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) technology. Software open source of SIP supporting which is used is Asterisk and software client of internet telephony based on SIP (softphone) which is used is X-lite. On the other side, telecommunication technology nowadays is growing as fast as the convergency occurred between internet network based on IP with general telecommunication network using E.164 numbering. At this time both networks have been able to be connected by mapping it into ENUM (Electronic NUmber Mapping). ENUM is enable IP based services to be accessed by dialing E.164 number. It is occurred because E.164 number has been mapped into DNS (Domain Name System). Software open source of ENUM supporting which is used is BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Domain). ENUM implementation in Indonesia in general and especially in TELKOM brings new issues such as technical, business and regulation aspects. One of technical aspect that must be considered is its performance. In this research, the performance that will be analyzed is MOS (Mean Opinion Score), echo, PDD (Post Dialing Delay) and jitter.
