Abstract
The benefits that virtual LANs offer can also be realized by using features of an IPv6 network together with the small enhancements to the IPv6 and DHCPv6 protocol stacks outlined in the present paper. The aim is to create complex network structures without a special layer 2 infrastructure. This proposal can be also applied to IPv4 networks wherein multicasting a DHCP is available
