Abstract :
The paper describes the design of a fuzzy traffic light controller at the intersection of two streets which changes the cycle time depending upon the densities of cars behind green and red lights and the current cycle time. A fuzzy model of the system has been built and tested to predict the behavior of the model under different traffic conditions. Performance of the fuzzy traffic controller has been compared with the human expert and conventional traffic controller which has a preset time
