Abstract :
For the design and analysis of a patch antenna for the local multi-point distribution system (LMDS), we propose a special type of patch, which has a band along the outside of a rectangular patch. We minimize the electromagnetic emission from the fringing effect. As a consequence, we are able to increase the antenna efficiency and the frequency bandwidth. Compared with the rectangular patch antenna, the banded one has a wider bandwidth. The operating frequency bandwidth ranges from 24.5 GHz to 28.5 GHz and the VSWR is 2.0 using a Teflon substrate.
