Abstract
The 1991 Broadcasting Act made provision for franchises to be awarded whereby an operator would be free to use either a cable/fibre or a microwave delivery method direct to the home. The author advocates an immediate industry-wide initiative to introduce 12 GHz services as a forerunner for 40 GHz or cable services. He illustrates the frequency interleaving of FM MVDS and DBS channels, the interference zone and the necessary tests
