Abstract :
A new method has been developed for the prediction of transmission loss in troposcatter communication system. The proposed method is based on the wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering channel model of the troposphere. The delay power spectral density function (DPSDF) of the received signal has been constructed. The received power which is the integral of the DPSDF; has been computed numerically. From the relationship between the transmitted and the received power; the transmission loss can be predicted. Five troposcatter links with different meteological conditions have been investigated by the proposed prediction method. The predicted values of the transmission loss are very close to the measured values.
