  • Abstract
Speech is an essential part of any multimedia application. However, it consumes storage in the order of 100 kbits per second when quantized. Based on speech compression techniques, high quality digital speech storage systems are designed to reduce the bit rate significantly. The background, limitations and methods of such systems are discussed and an example system is described
