Abstract
The author describes the three components of the signalling system: vital signalling, vehicle recognition system, and centralised control and supervision system. The vital signalling covers the segregated sections and uses a solid state interlocking system. The vehicle recognition system is used to control the street running section and uses both trainborne and trackside equipment to control special traffic lights. The centralised control and supervision system uses the SIGNET system, developed by GEC ALSTHOM, to control the signalling system
