Abstract :
A new approach to determine the first and second order flow field statistics from Laser-2-Focus (or Laser Transit) anemometer measurement was developed. It is based on non-linear regression fits of the probability density function to the measured data. The main advantages to previous methods are enhanced noise handling capabilities, reduced measuring time and better treatment of measurements with high turbulence levels. The new method was compared to artificially generated L2F data with known flow parameters and applied to actual measurements
