Abstract :
To prolong the lifetime of wireless sensor network an energy-efficient protocol is required, what can overcome the shortage of energy and minimized the energy consumption while satisfying given throughput and delay requirements. We described a virtual MIMO system by borrowing the ideas of MIMO systems which promises performance enhancements over conventional SISO systems for the same transmission power consumption. Based upon an energy-efficiency analysis of virtual MIMO system we present a self-organize MIMO protocol which described a process of establishing a multi-hop virtual MIMO system based on an existed wireless sensor network. The performance of virtual MIMO system was compared with original wireless sensor network in terms of energy consumption of transmitting a message between two sensors through a multi-hop path.
