Abstract
The authors describe the design and comparative testing of shaped and unshaped 2.3 metre Ku-band gridded reflectors, each providing the front shell of a dual-shell reflector antenna. They conclude that a contoured reflector antenna provides improved coverage performance and reduced mass over the multi-feed approach. The additional risks associated with these reflectors are heavily offset by the reduced risks in feed assemblies
