Abstract :
A GF-π/2 TFSK (Gaussian filtered π/2 tamed frequency-shift keying) modulation scheme is proposed. It is shown that the error performance of the modulation is superior to GMSK (Gaussian minimum-shift keying) modulation and that its spectral characteristics are like those of GMSK. As GF-π/2 TFSK is continuous-phase FSK (CFPSK) modulation, it is suitable to apply this modulation scheme to a satellite-mobile radio channel which is strictly power- and band-limited
