  • Abstract
The paper addresses research into the application of `expert system´-like inference in the field of fuzzy control. A flexible method for design, modification and maintenance of fuzzy control systems is presented, using techniques from the area of rule-based expert systems. The fuzzy inference engine described replaces the compositional rule of inference as used in the application of fuzzy control. Because the fuzzy inference engine is developed to be as general and flexible as possible, successful implementations in simulation and real-time control environments have been achieved
