Abstract :
A modified small-size tapered monopole antenna is optimized for ultra wideband applications in the 3-10 GHz band. Its performance in time and frequency domain is verified in co-design with the transceiver. The antenna miniaturized with our developed real-coded compact genetic algorithm, RCCGA, where the antenna area has been reduced 48% comparing to previous work at 3.1 to 11.7 GHz bandwidth operation. This paper explains in detail the trade off between antenna size and antenna performance for such a UWB antenna.
