Abstract :
Satellite communication antennas will in the future require greater operating bandwidth as defined for example by the WARC-79 allocations. This paper describes a feed system operating over 3.4-4.8 and 5.85-7.075 GHz bands, while conforming to the current performance requirements of INTELSAT. The bandwidth specification has a severe impact on the design of the diplexer. The details of fundamental design considerations and the results of engineering model tests are given.
