Abstract :
References are there in literature on the application of Perspective Projection methods for computing depth(D) or Z field using flat picture planes (FPP). However, this method resulted in a wide range of non-linearity between the depth (df) seen on FPP and the actual value of D. The non linearity is higher for depths nearer to the FPP. This non linearity is mainly due to the Flat nature of the Picture Plane. Hence, an attempt is made in this paper to use Cylindrical Picture Planes (CPP) and correlate the depth computed and the actual depth. The major findings of the present work reveal that, the above referred non linearity has been minimized and the computed depth is in good agreement with the actual depth.
