    It is clear that today the guidance of passengers and accurate information about traffic are a must for railway boards to offer an attractive product to their clients. In this strategy, passenger information systems and platform indicators are important elements. These have to perform under severe conditions with respect to an acceptable level of quality. The author describes the requirements and characteristics of such systems
