Abstract
The author describes a condition monitoring system which is suitable for online monitoring of rotating electrical machines and associated items of plant. The features of the system include: condition monitoring (logging and trending), machinery protection (alarms and trips), frequency spectrum analysis, and a troubleshooting rolling buffer. The system comprises four main elements, remote slave units, a remote master unit, desktop computer, and Apache software. The author briefly describes each of these elements and the operation of the system
