Abstract :
A circular disc monopole antenna is coupled with a parasitic element to generate a dual mode antenna system. The combination makes use of the broadband properties of the circular disc antenna to cover UWB operation, while introducing an L-shaped parasitic monopole to resonate at 2.4 GHz. The arrangement is rather compact in size where the parasitic is launch just 3.5 mm adjacent to the edge of the circular disc. Integration with cellular antenna was also investigated.
