Abstract
Broadcast cameras remain the final area in the production chain to incorporate digital signal processing. Digital effects, mixers, VTRs and lately even digital routeing are all accepted in the broadcast environment. This paper examines the background to the success of digital processing, the difficulties of applying such technology to cameras, and the benefits which such a digital camera would bring to users
