Abstract :
Spectrum efficiency is described for an irregularly allocated microcell land mobile radio system that uses dynamic channel assignment. From computer simulation under practical traffic and typical propagation conditions, dynamic channel assignment is estimated. In the smaller traffic condition, regular cell layout is shown to realize a higher spectrum efficiency. On the other hand, the larger traffic condition makes the cell layout overlaid. In overlaying with base stations, which have an identical number of radio channels, the required distance between base stations is quantitatively derived for the amount of offered traffic. The overlaying effect is equivalent to making the cell size small
