  • Abstract
    As part of the work of the Speech and Language Technology Group at Hatfield Polytechnic they have been developing an interface for a personal computer which will allow standard applications to be controlled by voice. The RABBIT system (recognition achieved by built in tolerance) uses commercially available speech recognition hardware and provides a more resilient user interface. RABBIT consists of an interface controller, which runs as a TSR (terminate and stay resident) utility in a PC; a vocabulary manager, which provides all the necessary functions for a user to set-up modify and train vocabularies; a loader, which retrieves vocabularies from disc and passes them to the RABBIT system, and tuner which allows the user to change the recognition parameters and thus customise the system to his/her individual needs and environment
