Abstract :
This work concerns the study of the static electrification phenomena on a real power transformer equipped with an exceptional set of oil pumps allowing different tests to be performed with an oil flow reaching nearly five times the rated value. The transformer was filled with two kinds of oils, aged and new, in order to compare their electrostatic charging tendency (ECT). The static electrification levels are analyzed through measurement of the leakage currents under unenergized and energized conditions, and by varying the temperature. Dielectric contraints and temperature are adjusted to values inducing the maximum electrification level. The consequences of static electrification on insulation reliability are analyzed based on the electrification level and acoustically measured partial discharges
