The authors briefly discuss the prospects for communication satellite antennas. This includes: fixed satellite services (FSS) providing highly shaped beams; mobile satellite services (MSS) providing area and zonal beams; and large deployable reflector antennas, which are expected to be in competition with active antenna arrays
