Abstract :
FACET is a CAD package for three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation. The significant impact that this package can have on monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) design is illustrated, taking as an example of 6-18 GHz distributed amplifier. An efficient diagnostic process is described which allows layout parasitics to be identified and minimized. The package is then used to design successfully a wideband amplifier. The accuracy of the package is confirmed by measured results from two wafers of MMIC amplifiers
