  • Abstract
The authors introduce two design strategies for microwave component design. These are optical ray tracing and a numerical solution to the electromagnetic problem by a finite difference scheme. Both techniques are applied to the design of E-plane sectoral horn antennas and quasi-optical microwave components based on dielectric waveguides. The relative merits of each technique are discussed and comparison is made with experimental results
