Abstract
The duopoly review refers to the developments in the UK telecommunications policy over the coming decade from 1990; now that the exclusive rights granted to British Telecom and Mercury under the 1984 Telecommunications Act have expired. A number of issues were covered including the desirability of enhanced competition in the UK market, the freedom to be allowed to BT, the type of technology now or likely to be on offer, and the inter-linking of the systems of competitors to that of BT
