Abstract :
This paper presents a simple procedure for using the finite element method to compute the characteristic impedance of shielded transmission lines. The knowledge of this basic parameter of the lines is vital in the design of microwave circuits. Numerical examples are used to verify the procedure. The results obtained compare well with those obtained using the finite difference method
