  • Abstract
The author discusses the various signal processing strategies proposed for electro-cochlear stimulation: the provision of an electrical stimulus which is available and suited to a patient comfortable frequency range; stimulation of processing in the peripheral auditory system-frequency analysis and neural transduction; provision of processing which simulates the pattern extraction processes used in the perception of speech
