Abstract :
This paper describes a study to characterize fixed-fixed electrostatic actuators micromachined from silicon. Because of their relative simplicity in both mechanical and electrical design, the actuators are found to be relatively reliable and their behaviour is relatively uniform. Statistical performance measurements made on individual actuators have proven that the devices offer repeatability in the 10 nm range
