Abstract :
Mobile communications have grown rapidly these last years. A race between GSM and CDMA techniques is engaged throughout the world. This novel activity has generated new research in the antenna domain. Compact antennas integrated on handsets have been designed. In the case of base stations, the activity is oriented towards signal processing. To test new algorithms in this domain, our lab is involved in the design of an array which would be able to tilt the beam up to 70 degrees in azimuth. The antenna would operate in the frequency band 790-830 MHz which is near the GSM frequencies.
