Abstract
The results from dry-band arc testing are strongly dependent on the test arrangements. In particular the impedance of the voltage source and supply circuit has a large effect. It is suggested that introducing a series resistor into the power supply in a salt-fog test may provide a useful technique by which such tests can be accelerated without recourse to use of unrealistically high voltages or short samples
