  • Abstract
The effects of additives or impurities included in LDPE on space charge formation and conduction current were studied. The conduction currents in commercially available LDPE samples are higher than that in the additive-free LDPE sample. While positive charges are observed throughout the bulk of the untreated commercially available LDPE samples, the solvent extraction treatment changes space-charge distribution to what is observed in the additives-free LDPE sample. Additives and/or impurities are thought to be the origins of mobile positive ionic carriers, which are removed by the solvent extraction treatment
