Flexible precoding for V.fast [modem]

In order to gain the most advantage from the high symbol rates, V.fast needs to be equipped with a powerful equalization technique that can effectively mitigate the amplitude distortion near the upper band-edge which can be as high as 3700 Hz. The author describes flexible precoding, a transmitter equalization technique, which is being considered for V.fast. Results indicate that flexible precoding combined with spectral pre-emphasis can provide excellent equalization in V.fast for all common channel impairments, including uncancelled echoes and signal-dependent impairments
