Abstract
This paper shows a fault locator implementation for radial distribution systems based on Ratan Das methodology. Another basic circuit concept is implemented to reduce error in the fault location. This implementation is made with MS EXCEL-Visual Basic, which reduces cost. Test results on the radial distribution feeder demonstrate the effectiveness in the fault locations by reducing the error to 6.85% of the total length. A posteriori, the non-supply time and outage rates in the distribution system can be reduced by mean of weak point identification.
