Abstract :
Reducing the vulnerability of surveillance radars to detection by third party intercept receivers is one of the major objectives of modern military radar design. The requirement for a low probability of intercept (LPI) radar is `~ to see and not be seen´. The task is essentially twofold; the radar must be designed to meet its specified detection performance with minimum radiated power and to measure the target characteristics with a waveform modulation that is difficult for an intercept receiver to identify
