  • Abstract
The theoretical performance of the technique is determined and it is shown that an estimate is produced whose variance is within 12% of the Cramer-Rao lower bound. Minimum shift keying is discussed with respect to the proposed Doppler estimator, for which the correlation properties of the phase codewords are a source of noise. A selection criterion for the phase codewords minimizes the effects of this noise, and is easily generalized to other phase-continuous modulation schemes. The results of processing experimental data with the proposed Doppler estimation technique illustrate the concepts discussed
