Abstract :
An arc array consisting of N directional elements is considered. The purpose is to find the array pattern that minimizes the mean-square distance from a given radiation pattern. It is shown that this approach yields satisfactory results when suitable directional elements are used, both in terms of the approximation quality of the desired pattern and of the frequency bandwidth performance of the array.
