Abstract
The author discusses the implementation of the European EMC directive (89/336/EEC) with particular emphasis on the approach adopted in the UK. Among the topics discussed are routes to compliance with the directive; the timetable for compliance; priorities for testing and certification and telecommunications terminal equipment. The author also discusses the activities of the UK Department of Trade and Industry relating to the directive and the EC Commission explanatory document. Also included are the arrangement of the EMC regulations and draft guidance on the preparation of a technical construction file
