Abstract :
Electricity supply pricing in France a long time, been based on the principle of marginal costing. This means that the prices given to the customer for his consumption of electricity follow, as closely as technically practical, the real cost of electricity at the time that it is produced and supplied to him. Similarly some efforts have also been conducted to approach a form of `spot pricing´ by implementing a time-of-use tariff depending on the utility´s decision when unfavorable conditions like cold weather or generation problems are present. The authors describe how, in order to comply to these principles it has been necessary to establish particular tariff structures called the `Green Tariff´ for medium and high voltage customers and the `Yellow Tariff´ for low voltage industrial customers, when their subscribed power is at least 36 kVA
