Abstract :
Technical devices are usually immersed in the air as the isoimpedance medium with the intrinsic impedance Z/sub 0/=377 Ohms. This value is also observed in any point of the inhomogeneous isotropic magnetodielectric if the numerical equation for ratio permittivity and permeability /spl epsiv//sub r/(x,y,z)=/spl mu//sub r/(x,y,y)=/spl alpha/(x,y,z) takes place. Besides the well-known (after Fresnel) trivial impedance matched case when /spl alpha/(z)=const is a step-constant value and the travelling wave has plane-parallel fronts z=C, the number variants of the waves in isoimpedance inhomogeneous magnetodielectrics (IIMD) with /spl alpha/(x/sub 1/,x/sub 2/,x/sub 3/)=h/sub 3c/(x/sub 10/,x/sub 20/,x/sub 30/)/h/sub 3/(x/sub 1/,x/sub 2/,x/sub 3/) are investigated. This formula is given in the special plane-basis (2 classes) and sphere-basis (4 classes) curvilinear coordinates with Lame\´s coefficients h/sub 1/=h/sub 2/=h/sub 2/h/sub 3/. This paper is devoted to new results dealing with extraordinary applications: (1) ultimate small antennas immersed in IIMD; (2) lossless reflectionless refractors ("invisible hats"); and (3) an electromagnetic wave pressure engine (for "flying plates").
